American Chamber Players

When: Sun., Nov. 3, 3 p.m. 2013
Price: $10-25
If you've ever sat in the driveway for an extra minute after arriving home to hear a piece concerning classical music on National Public Radio, chances are good that it was violist Miles Hoffman speaking. His American Chamber Players—a piano quartet plus a flautist—come to town for this matinee concert. Hoffman founded the ensemble in 1982, handpicking musicians from the Library of Congress Summer Chamber Festival. The players have since presented programs of classical repertoire as well as the work of contemporary composers. Widely lauded for its attention to music phrasing, the group has a warm, rich sound that Tulsa World says "some orchestras might envy." —Chris Vitiello
