Alice Osborn

When: Sun., April 29, 3 p.m. 2012

April is National Poetry Month, and as the month comes to a close, perhaps you would like to partake in the words of Raleigh poetess Alice Osborn. For the past few weeks, she's been throwing parties and receptions for her latest book of poems, After the Steaming Stops. At the last of these events, she'll read selections from the book, a collection of candid pieces that delve into such topics as her parents, lesbians and even Steve McQueen. If that doesn't intrigue you, there'll also be free food. It starts at 3 p.m.. —Craig D. Lindsey
