Adam Klein & the Wild Fires album release, Bullfrog Willard McGhee

When: Wed., May 1, 9 p.m. 2013
Price: $5

Athens, Ga., singer-songwriter Adam Klein is a veteran troubadour with a touch for sensitive, pop-tinged folk. The title track of his fifth album, Sky Blue DeVille, shows his knack with metaphors and gift for rich imagery; he compares a woman's love to a card game and conjures memories of a bygone era. Local opener Bullfrog Willard McGhee approaches his roots from a vastly different angle, with solo acoustic blues tunes—shaped by a weathered pipes and fingerpicked guitar—that are as raw, visceral and direct as titles such as "Let's Make a Dirty Movie" suggest. —Spencer Griffith
