Bindlestiff Family Cirkus

Cirque du Soleil, Schmirk du Soleil. What you really can't afford to miss--but can easily afford to see--is the launching of the spring tour of NYC's one and only Bindlestiff Family Cirkus.

After a seven-month run in New York that met with high critical acclaim from The New York Times, The Village Voice, and The Late Show with David Letterman, to name a few, Keith Nelson--who was raised in Davie County, N.C.--brings his troupe back home with their brand new show, High Heels and Red Noses.

A Bindlestiff performance is a unique blend of circus, sideshow, vaudeville and burlesque--a kind of adult version of the circus your took you to. Among the acts you will witness: "Mistress Philomena's Precision Bull Whip Mastery," "Tanya Gagne's Infamous Trapeze Strip Tease," and a "Homeland Security Song and Dance Routine." Again, not something you want to miss. Three shows in the Triangle: Saturday, April 19, 10 p.m., at Kings (21 and over), 424 S. McDowell St., Raleigh, 831-1005, $8; Wednesday, April 23, 10 p.m., at Local 506, 506 W. Franklin St., Chapel Hill, 942-5506, $10/$8 for clowns in makeup; Thursday, April 24, 10 p.m., at Ringside, 308 W. Main St., Durham, 680-2100, $10/$8 for clowns in makeup. 1-877-BINDLES or www.bindlestiff.org.
