Works of Heart

Works of Heart is volunteer-driven project that began in 1991 as a means to raise the Triangle's awareness of HIV/AIDS and available resources for those infected and affected by the disease. On Saturday, Oct. 19, the Alliance of AIDS Services-Carolina (AAS-C) sponsors the 12th annual fundraiser "Art Auction Against AIDS"--the premier charity art auction in North Carolina--which will feature more than 200 pieces of artwork donated by local artists. Paintings, sculptures and photography works will be available for the evening's silent and live auctions, and proceeds will support AAS-C programs that provide direct care and services for persons living with HIV/AIDS. Works of Heart will be held 6 p.m. at the BTI Center, AJ Fletcher Opera Theater, 2 E. South St., Raleigh. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door. To purchase tickets visit White Rabbit Books, 309 W. Martin St., Raleigh or www.etix.com. For more information about the event and to preview artwork, visit www.worksofheart.org. --olufunke moses
