Durhamites Greg Plachta and Peter Armenia are world travelers with an appreciation of foreign locales. In their new show at Durham's Craven Allen Gallery, the photographers bring vastly different techniques to bear on their travel photography. Plachta shoots in luminous, subtle infrared black and white (see his "Bells of IA," left) while Armenia favors rich textures and the saturated colors of Cibachrome. Both artists have used their travels to hone their photographic approach, whether snapping shots of a Hindu temple along the banks of the Ganges River or photographically contemplating a bell tower in Greece. Their exhibition opens May 11 at the Craven Allen Gallery, with a reception for the artists from 5-7 p.m. The show runs through August 24. Call 286-4837 for details.
