If you've ever toured the Governor's Mansion, you may have seen one of native North Carolinian John Beerman's paintings hanging there. Currently living in New York, the acclaimed landscape painter is returning to his old stomping grounds with an installation of work never previously exhibited anywhere in the nation ("Annendale" is pictured). The Greensboro-born artist has steadily grown in reputation over the years, with work in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the North Carolina Museum of Art, Saint John's Museum and the Cleveland Museum, among others. See his latest work at Chapel Hill's Somerhill Gallery, through April 22. Call 968-8868 for details.
