A&E Spotlight
If you haven't seen it yet, then this weekend is your last chance to view Constant Shifting: Chinese Transformations, an exhibition of Chinese art and culture from Taiwan, curated by the textile artist Jan Ru Wan, who's a recipient of a Durham Arts Council emerging artists grant. The exhibition includes examples of traditional Chinese cultural forms as they're practiced in Taiwan and many examples of Jan Ru Wan's own work, which have been transformed as a result of her move from Taiwan to the United States (see detail from "Tranformation," by Jan Ru Wan, embroidery and calligraphy on silk and Chinese-English dictionary pages, above).
