      <![CDATA[J Raleigh: I agree with you that the park should be an active place; the destination idea suggests that thousands will use it on a daily basis, which implies more than just frolicking on the grass. (But the Big Field can and should remain wide open for frolickers.)

      <![CDATA[To echo many of the sentiments in the comments already, the touting of Dix as a “destination park” for visitors statewide is ludicrous. Similarly, the comparisons to the great public spaces of Central Park, Millenium, or Presidio are equally poor arguments.
