I am sorry but Christopher McBride tortured his infant daughter for her first year of life with beatings that left poorly healed spinal injuries and the final beating fractured her scull and left doctors thinking her vision would never return. He can take this year of "torment" and shove it where the don't shine cuz he got himself in prison and then broke more rules and got himself in solitary, his daughter did nothing to deserve the torment he dished out to her.

That link is to the petition, pasted below, I wrote after reading the recent Mother Jones article on this issue at Pelican Bay Prison in CA - which is even worse than Central Prison.

Also I believe NC legislature was going to vote on raising the age that juveniles were tried as adults (to 18 - or at least above 16 -- which would make NC one of the last to do this more humane thing), and move all the children in adult prison out (at an eventual savings in cost), but the same legislature that also approved Fracking, failed to either raise the age for juveniles tried as adults or give reparations to those who were sterilized during NC's participation in the Eugenics Program.

So you see our state has a trend -- treat people horribly inhumanely - even criminally - and maybe 50 years later say you're sorry -- lip service only.

I would like every person that has any power over changing our prison system to watch the extras on Michael Moore's "Sicko" -- He does about a 30-min documentary on the prison system in Norway - that sends the worst offenders to a farm - with no cells -- no guns -- instead treating them with respect and courtesy. Moore says Norway doesn't incarcerate anyone for over 21 years - for any crime - and there is no death penalty.

When you commit a felony you forfeit certain rights and accept the fact that many (rights) will be diminished for the sake of your protection and the protection of other offenders and prison staff. Prison society rules dictate that all offenders be treated the same (as much as possible).

I have spent many hours inside Central Prison as a volunteer. Beyond 'solitary', the entire place is very depressing on the inside.
