If the players aren't going to be paid for the July break, I wonder if they would nonetheless have more time to work the summer camps. (Although, as a practical matter, it seems like the players would get no more than two weeks respite from training.)

Your point speaks to what I think is an unresolved tension in North American soccer. Nowhere else in the world (other than Australia) is there a continental league.

A benefit which is offset for northern U.S. and Canadian soccer fans who will have to endure colder, wetter, snowier weather when erratic weather changes will force delays during several matches in MN, Edmonton and elsewhere this year.
