And yet the Independent did not mention one word about "Blast by Colt 45" that used Hip Hop artists like Snoop Dog to push a 12% fruit flavored malt liquor t all last summer even though it gained national attention and 17 Atty Generals across the country fought against it.
Oversight?
Really?

@Lisa Sorg: I totally agree that adult alcohol sales should be legal and responsible drinkers should not be penalized for the actions of others. There can be no question though that a lot of harm could be prevented and a lot of innocent lives saved by giving people the right to choose a far safer alternative to alcohol.

Marijuana doesn't cause the violence, disease and addiction that alcohol does, and legalizing its sale to adults would greatly aid us in reducing the amount of alcohol consumed in this country and reducing the amount of harm that it causes.

@Goaglen: Yes, the damage of alcohol abuse is far-reaching and often permanent. But many of us enjoy alcohol without abusing it, and we who drink responsibly shouldn't be penalized for others' actions.
I would argue the abuse of prescription drugs is equally harmful to society, yet Big Pharma is happy to tell us we need them to function.

Thanks to Ms. Sorg for the cautions at the end of the article.
Liquor and spirits are still protected under the haze of convivial pastimes and modern boutique brews. The basic problem, the negative impacts of their consumption on society, are overlooked.
50% of traffic accidents and deaths are alcohol related or caused.
