      <![CDATA[ct, you have hit the nail on the head - all sorts of flawed conclusions flow from the incorrect assumptions about sealing the downtown crossings. In my comments to DOT I have asked why it is not an option to simply slow down for a few miles through Raleigh, to a speed that would allow the existing at-grade crossings.

      <![CDATA[Thanks Bob for a fair and informed article--too bad this didn't happen years or months ago so that something cogent would be proposed before the 11th hour!! Please keep following this story...it seems that there is more behind the narrow view of options than meets the eye.
