      <![CDATA[CO2 technology was developed using NC tax payer dollars and resources and then was turned around and used against dry cleaning businesses so they could could make a quick buck. Considering how many Hangers cleaners are left in NC, they failed miserably.

      <![CDATA[Martin, I'm not sure where you're seeing the inflammatory language here -- what I read is a very balanced article that does its best to report on the problem (and there clearly is one), the people who are impacted, where it came from, and what the current state of knowledge is.  My grandfather ran a dry cleaner, and spent money around 1960 to install cleaner and more environmentally friendly equipment at considerable expense. I'm sure it wasn't enough, based on technology at the time, and the site of his cleaners is probably perc contaminated.
