      <![CDATA[The food expenditures hardly seem extravagant, especially when you average it over a year's time. I've attended some CH council meetings in the past, and they frequently go on for 3 and 4 hours.

      <![CDATA[sarahbei, to your point, council members earn $13,015 annually and the mayor gets $21,783. That's certainly less than minimum wage given all the four-hour meetings, events and other duties of the office.

      <![CDATA[Other than that retreat at The Franklin, the costs seem pretty reasonable, but it would sure be nice to see them buying from more local sources like Weaver Street Market or other local caterers. (Mediterranean Deli does a nice, healthy spread for cheap, for example.)

      <![CDATA[elected officials receive a pittance for their time and effort. Meeting snacks keep people from getting testy and are a tiny fraction of a percent of the town budget.
