<![CDATA[Not to slight Michael Tuso in anyway considering he was a freshman when he was elected student body president at UNC-Greensboro, that in itself is a major accomplishment, but the Associate Publisher of OIA, Porscha Yount, served as student body president of UNC-Asheville, 2004-2005 and was openly queer on campus and during her term as president. Just thought I'd share that little tid bit considering so much of LGBTQ history is swept under the rug or into dark closets.

<![CDATA[On local leader I wished had been included in your list is Durham's Pam Spaulding. She runs the blog pamshouseblend.com which is a leading website for keeping people informed on issues relevant to the LGBT community, as well as progressive politics as a whole.
