Eve Carson was killed by a shotgun blast to the head, and the other FOUR wounds were staged postmortem. What the Wyatt Earps with their own arsenals are saying, "Show me the shotgun and the four "yellow full metal jacketed" bullets in the evidence locker room in this crime.

When a woman in a wheelchair is badmouthed by some youths, saying, "make up your mind which way you are going to go" and then walking away not even caring how it effects the person, it's sad. This happened to me in Walmart.

After seeing all the cool graphics for this article Id at least hoped it would shed a new light on the gun control debate. I was quickly disappointed somewhere around the argument that introducing young people to shooting sports is a guise for training them to become the next mass murderers and labeling all gun owners/enthusiasts as crazy paranoid people.

When you're stuck on the subway and some Jihadist opens up his coat to reveal a vest full of explosives, and starts saying "There is only one God, His name is Allah and Mohamed is his..." would you rather be reaching for your cell phone, sheltering your family from the inevitable, or reaching for your gun? Guns don't kill people.

Forty states, comprising the majority of the American population, are "right-to-carry" states. Statistics show that in these states the crime rate fell (or did not rise) after the right-to-carry law became active (as of July, 2006).

I've read Hal Crowther's commentary in other places,and it always boils down to one notion.He really dislikes the people of the south who might have the temerity to disagree with him.He doesn't believe that the right of self-defense(a long-standing enough tradition that cavemen drew pictures of such activites),is anything but people trying to re-create the old west(which,ironically and apparently inconvieniently wasn't as deadly as most of the heavy gun-control cities of the rust belt now).Anti-gun writers always use this tired,distorted cliche when their limited creative writing and reasoning abilities fail them.It was used to fight the expansion of concealed carry legislation,which had the effect of reducing crime where the right was expanded.Funny thing,most places Hal mentions as sites of deadly gun assaults are 'gun-free'zones,which,if he was intellectually honest instead of psuedo-intellectually biased,he would refer to as 'helpless-victim'zones. From my own experience,I knew a fine young man who was traveling home at night near Mebane,N.C. a few years ago.He was killed by a drug-muddled idiot with a knife.The dullard overpowered his smaller victim,stabbed and slashed him,and left him in a ditch.The victim had no means of self-defense(no gun),so I guess it's rude to to mention a story that kind of muddles the writer's point that a gun only causes trouble,certainly a means of overcoming a larger,frantic and drugged killer wouldn't have helped,right Hal?The jury sent the killer to jail for a few years,but they were from the liberal area of the Research Triangle,so they felt the killer's pain too,I suppose,and didn't bother to recommend the maximum sentence.But hey,no gun,no big deal,right?

In the 1960s you could order guns from the Sears catalog and the mailman would leave the package outside your door -- and we didn't have these problems. These problems are not the result of the NRA; they are the continuing result of the social changes of the 1960s.

I am writing in response to two of the references you made in your article regarding the 'choking game'. While I understand the reason for your flip referal to this deadly activity I just wanted to add that more than '82' deaths have been reported from this 'game' and one of my 13 year old twin boys became a victim to it.
