      <![CDATA[To my surprise I found Mae Farm in the Raleigh Farmer's Market yesterday. They explained with the rising cost of corn they need to sell directly to the consumer now in order to make a profit.

      <![CDATA[Every year over a million acres of viable farmland is lost to development pressure. As a sustainable farmer myself, I would love nothing more than to see environmentally sound family farms feeding the surrounding community across this nation.

      <![CDATA[If people ate a little less meat, didn't turn their noses up at the "less desirable" cuts and stopped building McMansions on all the open land it might just be feasible. One home raised pig was enough to last my family a year, plus the three others provided for 4 other families that bought from us.

      <![CDATA[It would be great if we could feasably do this. If pork was produced this way, nationwide, it would require 260,400 producers and 1,041,600 acres of open fields/woodland.
