I don't recall seeing that mural in any such condition in the last several years? Seemed to me it had virtually faded from exposure...to the point it wasn't very good looking.
Striving to serve a sophisticated crowd, once again strangled. The Whiskey was a place unique, where business folks, and tourists from surrounding cities liked the ambiance, and the professionalism of the staff...for those of you who may understand the importance of such. People who spread the word amongst other influential people WHO SPEND MONEY, who look at the city as providing alternatives to the Raleigh Scene. It spoke well for what the city should strive to be...somewhere unique, but with something a little more than t-shirt colloquialism. Sorry to see it close. Then again, we have billboards advertising Charlotte at both entrances to our city, as if to say "ride on by"....
