The newly seated republican lead general assembly authored a 1.2 % across the board teacher pay raise in 2011. That was vetoed by a democrat, Governor Bev. Perdue.
The Republican General Assembly passed that raise by overriding Purdue's veto with the help of a handful of democrats, but most democrats voted against the last teacher pay raise in 2011. republicans voted for it.
