The gist of your article implies that "hundred of new units" in the "condo mania that has gripped downtown" is actually your point. That more people living here will degrade how hip it is. As someone who has lived here since before it was so hip, I welcome new neighbors to a community we have worked long and hard to build. A community that is inclusive and less concerned with cosmetics than providing opportunity for Durhamites. A bustling, thriving place place we are proud to call home.
Indeed there is a huge difference between condominiums and apartments. The first implies private ownership, not rental. Condominiums thus being available to a far less percentage of the population who can't afford or don't wish to invest in home ownership.
The Liberty Warehouse will NOT be developed as condos. It will be apartments.
