I attended the sold-out show on Saturday, and was so pleasantly surprised. The humble setting of the Common Ground Theater was transformed and transcended with skill from this amazing production team. The work of costume designer Chelsea Kurtzman and mask-maker Will Deedler lent a surreal quality to the characters, who worked wonders in bringing life to their respective parts. Those without masks gave unfettered performances to this lively production which had many surprises. From the titillating interplay of Jade Arnold's Mozart and Molly Forlines' Constanze, to the tortured villainy of John Jimerson's Salieri, the play rolls and tumbles bringing the audience along to the inevitable and tragic end, but not before it delights with moments of spontaneous and gleeful anachronism. Well played.
