Don't know what the Homegrown + GA contract was for, but currently a year's worth of tuition at Rice (one of the best universities in the US) is ~$38k.
So, adding the cost of finishing two years of college ($76k) to a Homegrown contract for a blue chip prospect (I'll take some liberties here and plug in Columbus' Wil Trapp's contract from last year ~$90k) and it looks like Ibeagha turned down a decent offer (~$165k). I hope he makes it at Aalborg, but considering that he would've paid $100k for the last two years at Duke, it doesn't look like the offer from Houston and MLS after his sophomore year was a poor one. It just looks like a player trying to test himself (and his value) overseas.
