This is a blow to the paper and to those of us who cherish the Indy's true progressive perspective. We've picked up the Indy since it's first press date and in these days of FOX News rhetoric filling the air and press waves, Lisa's voice was one that celebrated liberal politics, thought and energy. She is a tremendous loss to the Indy, and to us as readers. I hope she finds another place where she will undoubtedly kick some ass.
Sen Tamara Barringer was not absent from the vote. She abstained due to a perceived conflict of interest as a UNC employee with UNC System president Tom Ross, who publicly opposed HB-937. Please call her office and ask her how she feels about 937 now.
Holy moly this group is phenomenal! Saw them at the Durham Farmer's Market a few weeks back--startled me back into my memories of Mardi Gras in 1992. The children caught my eye, the band my ears. What a treasure, Durham!
