Hold on. DPS has about 24,000 enrolled annually. About 350 drop out each year. And about 350 enter K every year "at risk," Durham has a solvable problem. Adding an extra grade, universal Pre K, has a good chance to eliminate the poverty gap, assuming the school system continues to pay attention to the at risk kids and their families thru to graduation, don't you think?
