I have not volunteered at the Goathouse, but have visited it several times and adopted two wonderful cats from there. My experience is that it is well run, full of caring volunteers and reasonably happy cats given their transient situation. Siglinda obviously knows the cats individually and is often available to talk to about them. She strikes me as an exceptional person who is giving her life in service to these beautiful animals. The Indy likes to muckrake, but this time I think they've picked the wrong subject. There's lots of real problems that need to be publicized, but this is not one of them.
