Re: “General Assembly wresting authority from local governments' hands”

Tim Moffit, recently-elected Republican rep from our newly-gerrymandered Buncombe county, now appears to want to be the mayor of Asheville. He has proposed new laws to remove the water system from city control, to remove city representation from the regional airport board, and to strip it of any power to annex property.

This appears to all be related to grudges Moffit has developed through previous fights with Asheville City Council, because none of his proposals will save any money; it is only usurpation of power that he appears to seek. It would all be laughable if he was not backed up by the other Republican legislators in their brainless drive to eliminate all laws passed by Democrats and moderate Republicans over the past century in NC.
