This is awesome - thank you for sharing these recipes and more about Kathy. She is known throughout the country. My non-veg aunt in California has bought her cookbooks -- it is nice to have a talented vegan chef with this reach in our midst. ("Vegan Chefs in the Midst.") Also will be trying out the bats ...
First of all, thanks to the Indy for including non-cow milk options as part of the ice cream edition! Very awesome, and great that you have included since there is quite a strong trend towards exploring non-traditional alternatives to milk made from animals. And you're kinda non-traditional.
Just a few comments:
Next time it might be helpful to check in with the vegans for top flavors, though I know everyone has a different palate. But green tea flavor and naked coconut aren't probably the best to choose from.
The "Purely Decadent" versions of the So Delicious brand are the best - including cookie dough and peanut butter zig-zag. The coconut based versions of this brand are great, such as cookies-n-cream.
Was also wondering about the sparseness of the photo with just a few slivers of ice cream ... kinda implying deprivation a wee bit -- instead of something like this (Durham entrepreneurs -- take note!): http://archives.quarrygirl.com/2010/02/03/… .
There is also one very central reason many people have chosen to find delicious dessert alternatives. This is an org I respect a lot: http://www.veganoutreach.org/dairy/
In any case, thanks again as always for including alternative options for this growing base of the population and yr readership.
