Very interesting read.
I, in England, seemed to have fared better. After a fairly healthy life, where my only hospital visit in the last 20 years was my gender confirmation surgery, I have in the last 6 months been hospitalised a number of times.
I try my best, but with the best will in the world I do not look especially feminine, so my transgender status is probably fairly obvious to see and my voice is anything but feminine! That said, I never had any trans related questions posed by anybody at all, from the high and mighty consultants to the ladies that meticulously clean the rooms - and neither from any other of the patients.
I appreciated this very much - just being treated as me.
