White administrators ignoring a black man's request to know why a less experienced white man was promoted. A man named von der Lippe sensationalizing a story about a rich white woman feeling threatened and scared by a black man, something even she refutes. A town that uses tax payers' money to stop two men from protecting their rights and then fires them for a rule that encompasses fraud and misuse of town funds. A Toni Morrison novel? Nope, just business as usual in Chapel Hill.
Hats off to the Employment Security Commission of North Carolina for doing its job and operating in the 21st century, and to Indy Week for its excellent reporting. Shame on the town of Chapel Hill for carrying on a legacy of racism and ignorance that so many of us have tried to rise above. This is an embarrassment to the Triangle. All the best to these two.
