I am a Computer Professional in my sixties living in North Raleigh. I have a wonderful wife and three amazing grown kids as well as…

Gene, here's a scenario for you. You are walking down the midway with your legal CCW weapon tucked into the waistband of your jeans. Suddenly someone pulls out a gun and starts shooting. You, being the upright citizen, pull out your gun and draw down on the bad guy. When the cops arrive they are going to see two people in civilian clothes with guns. How are they supposed to know that you are the good guy and not blow your butt away. The bottom line is that the public doesn't need your protection. We have people trained to do that.
The Republicans in the General Assembly have turned this once progressive forward looking state I was so proud of into one of the most backwards states in the country. We are a laughingstock. We need to turn this around. If you agree, please vote accordingly in the upcoming election.
I really need someone to explain to me what possible difference it makes if a restaurant puts a sign in the window prohibiting guns. Unless they have a metal detector it's not going to make any difference to someone carrying a concealed weapon who wants to enter. That's the whole idea of a concealed weapon. You don't know the person is carrying it. I think this issue is a complete waste of time. People who want to enter a bar or restaurant with a concealed weapon are going to do it and no one can do anything about it. Am I wrong?
I, for one, am encouraged by the fact that our Highway Patrol and Assistant Attorney General are using their time and resources on something so incredibly stupid. Seriously, give the guy another hat and send him back out on the road.
I have yet to walk into a bar or restaurant in Raleigh that had a metal detector at the door. Regardless of the presence of a "No Weapons" sticker anyone carrying a concealed weapon, whether they have a permit or not, can walk into any establishment and no one would know they were armed. I think this is a pointless discussion and a waste of time for our legislators.
