I am a Computer Professional in my sixties living in North Raleigh. I have a wonderful wife and three amazing grown kids as well as…
I really need someone to explain to me what possible difference it makes if a restaurant puts a sign in the window prohibiting guns. Unless they have a metal detector it's not going to make any difference to someone carrying a concealed weapon who wants to enter. That's the whole idea of a concealed weapon. You don't know the person is carrying it. I think this issue is a complete waste of time. People who want to enter a bar or restaurant with a concealed weapon are going to do it and no one can do anything about it. Am I wrong?
I, for one, am encouraged by the fact that our Highway Patrol and Assistant Attorney General are using their time and resources on something so incredibly stupid. Seriously, give the guy another hat and send him back out on the road.
I have yet to walk into a bar or restaurant in Raleigh that had a metal detector at the door. Regardless of the presence of a "No Weapons" sticker anyone carrying a concealed weapon, whether they have a permit or not, can walk into any establishment and no one would know they were armed. I think this is a pointless discussion and a waste of time for our legislators.
The problem I have with this is the word "public". If the area in question is owned by the public how can the government charge us $800 plus the cost of insurance to use it. We pay taxes and those taxes pay the salaries of those who maintain this property. Why do we have to pay extra to use it. The bottom line is that the city government wants the homeless to get out of downtown because they might negatively affect the business owners. It has nothing to do with caring about people and everything to do with money.
What is happening to this wonderful state I love so much? We are being overrun by small-minded theocrats and legislators that care more about their special interest patrons and less about the people they are supposed to be serving. We need to put the brakes on this.
Once again, Mr Crowder, you have hit the proverbial nail on the head. I really hope this country will come to its senses and heed this warning. Unfortunately,as someone once said, you can't reason someone out of an opinion they didn't reason themselves into.
P.S - MST, forgive me but what exactly is your point?
TomG, do you really expect anyone to take you seriously with a comment like that.
