Once again, Mr Crowder, you have hit the proverbial nail on the head. I really hope this country will come to its senses and heed this warning. Unfortunately,as someone once said, you can't reason someone out of an opinion they didn't reason themselves into.
P.S - MST, forgive me but what exactly is your point?
TomG, do you really expect anyone to take you seriously with a comment like that.
Mr. Crowther, I have been a fan and follower for many years and this essay rises to the high standards you have always set. If it were up to me members of Congress would not only be required to reveal the names of the corporations that contribute to their election but also wear the logos of those companies on a jacket like the NASCAR drivers do. That way we would at least know where their allegiance lies. It sure doesn't lie with the average American.
This legislation is a tremendous waste of time. It's unconstitutional and will eventually be overturned just like Prop 8 in California will be overturned. Those who favor forbidding same-sex marriage have no valid evidence that there is any detrimental effect on society from allowing it. This is a purely religious issue and thus does not belong on the ballot in a purely secular country which, contrary to popular belief, we are.
Re: “This week in disappointment: rolling back the environment, reproductive rights and more”
What is happening to this wonderful state I love so much? We are being overrun by small-minded theocrats and legislators that care more about their special interest patrons and less about the people they are supposed to be serving. We need to put the brakes on this.
