Remember these idiots during election time. The members of the BOCC have rewarded themselves for botching the DSS-Jerri Robinson fiasco, and the 751 mess--which could also be called the Joe Bowser mess, since he received $8000.00 in campaign contributions from a couple that has major intrest in the 751 project. Both the DSS & 751 South debacles were spearheaded by Bowser and agreed to by a majority of BOCC members. It's clear to me that giving huge raises to Ruffin's staff at this time calls for a second look at who's controlling county purse strings and why our tax dollars keep supporting THEM. I guess you all follow the old saying: Pay yourselves first. The staff that also make the county run and make these clowns look good have to jump through hoops to get a 3.25% raise on an already low salary--they've written performance evaluation guidelines so that its practically to get a 4.25 % raise. I guess all the "lower level" staff--who make less than a quarter of Ruffin's salary--should learn to be grateful for the 3.25% crumbs from the master's table. What I just read adds insult to injury. We're waiting to see whether the "hold" on the $10,000 increase they agreed to pay Gail Perry does, in fact, hold. More BOCC fiscal responsibility in action.
Stan Holt. After the reputation you've built through your work at Genesis House and in the community, why are you involved in this scheme that was clearly planned in advance and poorly executed? You are involved with someone whose reputation is laughable on many levels. In an earlier article in another paper, you said you thought something was suspicious. If you thought that, why did you plot with them and vote for this? You should have cut bait when you first got suspicious. It makes me wonder if you've been smelling the same gas that Joe's been smelling?
Civitas claims to have tapes where Bowser admits that you, he & Perry talked about DSS matters before she joined the Board--which you confirm here. Thanks for at least coming clean on that. Meeting for coffee on one of the hottest Sundays in July to talk about issues at DSS? Now let me see. Perry wasn't even sworn in at that time. So was she just meeting with you to talk about DSS matters as a good citizen? Is she a friend of either of you? If it was just a chat among friends, why were you talking with her about DSS problems before she was even sworn in to the DSS Board? Wouldn't this be a violation of personnel policies? You say you asked Dan Hudgins and Sharon Hirsch about taking an interim director position and they declined. Did Gail Perry suggest their names? Is she a friend of theirs? Who's Perry friends with? Hmmmm.
Stan, come clean while you can and admit your part in this and maybe you can get out with some of your integrity and reputation intact. And your bank account. Because if Robinson is smart, she's talking to lawyers.
