This has nothing to do with everyone's ridiculous arguments that we should hand out cards, IDs, political correctivism gone awry! God forbid we should be kind to people. It does have everything to do with the TSA being a JOB where they encounter many different kinds of bodies. They are trained to encounter trans bodies. Enacting prejudice on difference on your job is not okay, particularly in a position of power. This is what's happening with our police: there is a connection between sanctioning this kind of discrimination and the FACT that transgender people and especially trans people of color are victims of violence and murder, shitty employment, homelessness, etc. more than other marginalized populations.
the Indy's embrace of a writer and thinker of this caliber has reignited my interest in this publication in toto. Thank you Eva, for your candor and your trans/lation of complex and enlivened happenings. You help me imagine a creative, rather than dire possibility for my personal ecology and the world at large - Sam P.
