I hope this is a vile and unfounded rumor. If it's true however, I'd love to see a proactive series of full page ads run in Indyweek, the Observer and other major papers before the special session with a huge headline that says, "MOLESTERS OF DEMOCRACY?" "PLEASE DON'T DIRTY Lady Liberty" followed by photos of members of the Republican legislature with captions containing their names and public email addresses. If this is true they need to be publicly embarrassed beforehand.
I wish it wasn't "Moral" Mondays... I guess "Ethical Mondays" doesn't have the same ring to it, but we should be getting away from religion altogether... not just seeking to replace ultra-conservative thought with moderate-conservative thought.
The idea of asking for help/guidance from an imaginary friend is so counter-intuitive... seriously, no one would be christian if they hadn't been exposed to it and convinced of it (and you don't have to convince people of the truth).
It's not that hard to brainstorm and realize what's constructive to society and what's destructive, you don't need a book for that, just common sense, logic and the scientific method.
The only thing that will achieve change is action, which even the religious have realized: praying hasn't achieved anything, so now they're praying at protests... now let's move one step further and remove the prayer and keep the protests.
I'm not saying we should be uncivil, I just want peace that's not rooted in delusion. Religion allows people to think they're 100% right in something, which is dangerous... it allows people to stop thinking, growing, and challenging themselves to improve as human beings.
Wait a minute, aren't smaller government and federalism at opposite ends of the ideological spectrum?
God, we can't even get competent fascist corporate overlords these days...
It's not surprising that Chad Johnston's ego comes before a truly great organization like the People's Channel. Would this article have happened if it was not promoting Mr. Johnston's career? Probably not.
A warm and positive review of a great local band
and look Grayson is no where near the article
I wonder what happened?
I since some major envy and lousy jealousy coming from this failed musician of a music critic.
You are not a king maker sir.
Where are any of your championed bands now? Surely not on billboard or doing Leno. The fact alone that the Holjes bros. have charted top ten hits means they know the publishing game and consistently deliver sellable art is reason for respect.
Grayson surely can't be happy someone else made a name for themselves especially when he had no hand in their success.
"let's make a hit piece, and put them in their place"
Then you wonder why everyone that leaves here never mentions they were from here to begin with.
Small mindedness in small town markets.
Why doesn't Sutton pursue something for which she's better qualified—Durham DA? I expect there will soon be a vacancy. Then everyone's a winner!
