My boyfriend and I just adopted a cat from Goathouse 2 weeks ago. It is still too early to tell if he will ever be comfortable enough to come out of the little room we set up for him, and things like upset stomach are to be expected.
It does make me sick to my stomach, however, reading that someone else adopted an allegedly healthy cat from Goathouse that ended up having giardia, roundworms, an inflamed left eye infected by the herpes virus and stomatitis, especially considering the long road we had to take getting our first cat healthy after we adopted her from an animal shelter. We would have taken more precaution had we known about the history of illnesses that come out of Goathouse until we knew for sure whether or not he was healthy.
I will be devastated if he has a disease, especially if it is one that has potentially been transmitted to our healthy cat. Our appointment at the vet tomorrow can't come soon enough.
Scary and sad.
Totally agree with you overall re: hip-hop. 9th Wonder's showcase was so incredible at Hopscotch I-- I was half expecting 9th or Big Pooh to show up as special guests during the Foreign Exchange show this year. Make no mistake, Yelawolf MADE FACES MELT at Lincoln, but in terms of that Hopscotch je ne sais quoi, there's nothing quite like seeing arguably the best NC hip-hop producer bring it with Raekwon, Skyzoo, Actual Proof, etc.
Re: “The truth about the Goathouse Refuge”
To follow up on my earlier comment: We took the cat we adopted from Goat House to the vet after reading about the health problems reported in this article. He is 100% healthy.
