This Christmas be part of the merriest musical tradition of the season with the Durham Symphony Orchestra's annual Holiday Pops concert. This popular program for families includes your favorite sounds of the season, including Mozart’s “Sleigh Ride” and music from Tchaikovsky’s "The Nutcracker". A fun feature of this year’s Pops concert is the traditional sing-along featuring "Christmas Memories", which includes songs like "Frosty the Snowman", "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town", "Here Comes Santa Claus", "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" and "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas".
A highlight of the concert will be the most famous Christmas medley ever written for orchestra, Leroy Anderson's "A Christmas Festival". It includes the songs "Joy to the World", "Deck the Halls", "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen", "Good King Wenceslas", “The First Noel”, "Hark the Herald Angels Sing", "Silent Night" and "Jingle Bells".
Joining us this year will be the Hillandale Children’s Chorus. This chorus has delighted DSO audiences in seasons past. They will help make this your favorite musical memory of the holidays.
Join Maestro William Henry Curry and the Durham Symphony for one of Durham’s most delightful holiday traditions on Friday, December 5, 7PM, at the Durham Armory, 220 Foster Street, Durham NC.
