I have absolutely no trouble believing the report from vanweiz. I dined with two friends at Artichoke Basil for the first time yesterday. I am a sweet-faced 29-year-old woman with enough waitressing experience to *never* be the least bit rude or off-putting to wait staff, EVER. And my two friends are the gentlest lambs in the world. When my caesar salad came to the table, tasting like an anchovy had curled up and died in it, I didn't know what to do because I so dislike complaining and didn't want to create a fuss. My sweet friend, however, wanting to make sure I had something to eat for lunch, took the offending salad to the counter to politely ask if we could exchange for a house salad, and he was--I kid you not--STARED DOWN by two surly employees, who finally ended the conversation by aggressively pointing at the salad and accusing him, "Well YOU ORDERED it." We absolutely could not believe it, it was SO out of hand. I left hungry and lost my $8. I will NEVER be back, and I will tell everyone I know.
