A perceptive comment on the Tea Party/Welfare State dynamic. I am in complete agreement. As I listen to Tea Party rants about the insurance mandate in the new healthcare reform law, my inclination is to let them go about their lives uninsured, but accept that they will not be admitted to emergency rooms without paying cash up front. Or perhaps, a new form of HMO - "Patriot Care" , that is a pay as you go replication of the healthcare that the revered Founders enjoyed: bloodletting with leeches, amputations with saw/whiskey, and no antibiotics. A Tea Party patriot's dream?
