Were these non-violent drug offenders arrested and charged, or did the police just confiscate what they found? If that many additional people just got added to the 1.5 million Americans already eating up our tax revenues in overcrowded prisons, or even if they have to clutter up the justice system, I definitely don't consider this a good use of our police force. Maintaining order at public events is great, but should not be done by regulating drugs, but by intervening in disorderly situations.
