This debate over illegal immigration is ridiculous. I was at the City Council Meeting and in listening to the community speak out, I found the logic on both sides flawed. There is a simple fix to this problem and it begins by allowing MORE legal migration to take place in our country. Both conservatives and liberals seem to take issue with this and from what I gather, their opinions are based largely on greedy protectionistic attitudes. Another quick fix, would be to expand free trade. If goods can flow freely from one country to the other, the demand for low-skill labor will shift from the US to other poorer countries. Why are we wasting so much money trying to restrict and enforce the flow of immigrants into this country. Tightly managed immigration policies are a waste of tax-payer money. Our country should not restrict the liberty of any hard-working individual and unfortunately in reading comments like those below, I am discouraged to see that Americans have lost their sense of freedom and justice.
Despite your harsh criticism of the Democrat party, I'm sure you'll support them whole-heartedly at the next go-round. If your readers haven't figured this out yet, they need to be voting third party by now. Your publication should encourage that process, not dampen it by posting your uninspiring endorsements of political insiders each and every year.
Oh, and in case you chose not to post my last comment, I wanted to let you know that both of your articles this morning made me "throw up in my mouth." What a joke!
Nice smear job INDY! For anyone serious about ending our current occupation in Afghanistan, I suggest you vote BJ Lawson in, and vote our career politician David Price out.
Uggg! What an uninspiring list of endorsements.
tsk tsk... I guess I'll encourage the true progressives / libertarians in my neighborhood to find their news elsewhere.
You're a joke IndyWeek!
Re: “Paul Ryan in North Carolina”
Ayn Rand devotee??? Give me a break! He's not even close. This is the equivalent of the tea party's labeling Obama as a socialist. In studying both Rand and Marx and comparing that to the record of these two men, I can assure you that neither Paul nor Obama have the conviction to stand for such principles. Let's not sink to the Tea Party level, Indy Week.
