I have been doing business with Mr.Rowand for over 10 years.When my business was financially in bad situation Mr.Rowand was there for me as he was for many other artists.He had purchased handmade rugs and kilims from me which has saved my business from filing chapter 11.
Mr.Rowand has always been very honest ,fair,professional and kind business man.Matterfact he is the most professional and honest business man that I have ever met in my entire life.I do not believe any comments made by the artist above.Before making any negative judgements please try to put yourself in his shoes.
38 years in business and as a well respected community leader: CAN ANYONE CLAIM THAT HE DID NOT PAY HIS ARTISTS?ANY BOUNCED CHECKS?(BEFORE HIS BUSINESS WAS GOING BAD ;TOWARDS BANKRUPTCY) I DO DOUBT THAT.
Any business could make mistakes (Utility companies,grocery stores,lawyers etc) When we get a wrong bill ; do we call the C.E.O of the company and tell them they are dishonest?When you have hundreds if not thousands of consignments in you gallery ;an employee you trust could make a mistake but the owner should not be punished for it immediately ;if he is not aware of the problem.If the owner is aware of the problem and have funds to pay ,then you might call that a dishonesty; which is not the case with Mr. Rowand.
Buying an SUV could have been done with no money down option.When we are stressed out we all do want some change .I think thats why Mr. Rowand purchased a SUV which is NOT AN EXPENSIVE one.
I have no doubt that Mr. Rowand will do his best to pay his debts.
Let me share a little memory with him.I went to visit Mr. Rowand with two poor Peruvian artists / musicians who neede help.He arranged them to come to his house for an art event ,let them sell their arts and crafts with no commision and paid them well for playing andean music.He always and always helped the artists.For the artist who state that Mr. Rowand owes them X amount of money 9500$ or lets say 20.000$ why dont they tell how much he has paid them over the years $100.000 0r $400.000? Why some of them forget what they have been paid over the years?
I have about $500.000 of inventory right now and if there is a person to consign my inventory Mr.Joe Rowand would be the one and only person I could trust.
