I am just horrified by the idea of the anti abortion proponents propagandizing children in public schools. It is bad enough that this happened at all, let us hope that this outcry sends the message that parents will not stand for it to happen again.

It seems to me that we, as a society, want to stick our heads in the sand about the truth of poverty: it is very hard to be poor! Basic needs go unmet, health care is difficult to obtain, both parents may be working every possible second just to put food on the table. Poverty also means that all sorts of dysfunctions arise from the constant drumbeat of "no" in your life. Potential and opportunity are wasted because there is never the financial flexibility to seize them and we are allowing things to become worse instead of better. It is shameful.
