Re: “The Tea Party

RocB,

You seem to believe and you are arguing that two wrongs make a right, so long as yours is the second wrong so that you can wave your hand and point... "they did it first"...
Evolve.
The right has never actually debated any issue other than "Al gore is a tool = global warming doesn't exist" or "Obama is black, muslim, not-like me = everything on the left is socialist"
Its called the "oneway-hash-argument:" in which you illogically rationalize two technically true ideas to produce a barbaric conclusion that can never be proved. It's ignorance,. it's hate.

Conservatism as proven time and time again, is simply the refusal to move even in the face of overwhelming proof. The right has nothing but ignorance on their side and unfortunately, through our history, they have lead the way for oppression and inequality by capitalizing on another's ignorance.

All social movements happen because of logic and the "left", the right, especially in NC would still be slave owners if the big bad government hadn't written laws to specifically forbid it. Stupid equality.
Get over yourself... this article was about as truth as you can get.
Tea Partiers are misguided and misinformed and they prove it every time they speak.

Re: “Wake County goes to hell

Chuck, I find it quite insulting that you can completely ignore what Mr. Jefferson was all about.

Private education, segregated education only creates haves and have nots. Haves oppress to be the haves and eventually the "nots" will out number and revolt. A person being oppressed has 2 ways to get their freedoms and rights back, civil disobedience, or Violence. Which do you think poor wake country residents will choose when they are oppressed even further with this new school board? Educate ALL people equally. treat all people equally. It's really that simple. I know conservatives don't believe in equality, but the rest of us do and its the only way for we to progress in peace.

Let me share a few quotes with you that may help you understand. TJ was, first and foremost, for the advancement of Life, the advancement of people. His insight into how little we knew and how wrong we were (ignorance) still applies today. He was one of our first and few true philosophical and logical leaders. He was a true thinker. "what's right for all?" Jefferson stood tallest when speaking about the education of people. He argued that first and foremost, educating the mass is the purpose of a government.

"1816. "Enlighten the people generally, and tyranny and oppressions of body and mind will vanish like evil spirits at the dawn of day . . . . I believe it [human condition] susceptible of much improvement, and most of all, in matters of government and religion; and that the diffusion of knowledge among the people is to be the instrument by which it is effected." (to Dupont de Nemours, 24 April)"

"1818. "A system of general education, which shall reach every description of our citizens from the richest to the poorest, as it was the earliest, so will it be the latest of all the public concerns in which I shall permit myself to take an interest."

""If a nation expects to be ignorant and free in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be." --Thomas Jefferson to Charles Yancey, 1816. ME 14:384"

""Freedom [is] the first-born daughter of science." --Thomas Jefferson to Francois D'Ivernois, 1795. ME 9:297"

""And say, finally, whether peace is best preserved by giving energy to the government or information to the people. This last is the most certain and the most legitimate engine of government. Educate and inform the whole mass of the people. Enable them to see that it is their interest to preserve peace and order, and they will preserve them. And it requires no very high degree of education to convince them of this. They are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty." --Thomas Jefferson to James Madison, 1787. (Forrest version) ME 6:392"
