This review is terribly disappointing. The Independent should be ashamed for ignorantly maligning one of the best death penalty attorneys in the country and one of the most effective non-profit organizations in North Carolina. The reviewer is way off target with his analysis of the book as well as his libelous assertions against Mr. Rose and CDPL, such as the reviewers accusation that Mr. Rose failed to attempt to reverse Mr. Jones sentence. Nothing could be further from the truth. To suggest that Jones absolute human value to the CDPL is fundamentally unimportant is shameful. Anyone that knows Ken Rose or CDPL knows that this statement is false. Further, the book never made any such assertion or insinuation which makes one wonder where and why the reviewer came to this conclusion. Next time Mr. Sobsey - read the book.
