I can see why Matt Czajkowski is the sensible choice. He has my vote for mayor.
What bearing does one's sexuality have as a qualification for public office? You pick three qualifications for Kleinschmidt as mayor, and one of them is that he is gay. Does Chapel Hill not want to be upstaged by Carrboro, a town that had a gay mayor first? Chapel Hill would be better served by looking beyond such window dressing for its leadership.
Re: “Why were the Sanitation Two fired?”
Thanks for the excellent article. Don't overlook the class issue, either. After observing the appeals hearing for Clark, I was astonished by the findings. The facts were overwhelmingly on Clark's side. But the panel was composed of middle- to upper-income people who'd made successful careers in office settings. Compared to people in office settings, Clark came across as unpolished. I would have expected better from the panel and would like to see someone on it who has some experience in service jobs or manual labor situations.
