This is a special effect gala with little in the way of story. True the story begins in classic Star Fleet "Kobyashi Maru Duty over life". It quickly degenerates into the ends justify the means. The characters are not star fleet officers. Their tall ferengi with attitudes.
This movie has less to do with Star Trek and more to do with the directors', writers and casts attitude towards life. Such an outlook would not standup to close inspection in either our world or the priciples that have guided Star Trek until now.
