Charlotte reached from the 'bottom rung to the top' and ridership has beaten projections. I like your ideas, but as a relatively prosperous community, we can afford to be more ambitious. I still believe the light rail plan developed in the 90's (to be up and running by 2007) is still viable. The only thing that really stopped this plan was regressive political thought stemming from Wake Co. Kudos to Durham and Orange to show us the way.

Great analysis Bob. FWIW, I was speaking to a former board member (district 5) and if I heard her right, she thought the plan was feasible with the right administrative bent. -Paul Shannon
