Re: “The Trump Show: North Carolina Republicans Reckon with Their Party’s New Leader

Being a Republican means being essentially a traitor. Some like Woodhouse and Hayes are there big time with Pope, but people cited here are "enablers". How anyone can support the line up of crass, uncivil, unsympathetic, mean, racist alleged candidates in the Republican Party is far beyond me. These people have undertaken, primarily as member of White Christian America to drive any and all they can into theocracy - I have no faith, liking or understanding of their pernicious and damaging doctrines and laws. They are always waiting like someone to tell them what "Father" requires and their slavish attention to their religious shamans defies makes them sheep, loud but sheep. Democrats often work this way, but they are far outstripped by the Republicans who have set to destroy education, taxes we need for proper investments, government services. They are greedy and self serving, and willing to force their "gawd" up your nose in one heart beat. And they are white, White Christian Americans, thankfully a dwindling group but determined to burn the house down before they are rendered obsolete and hopefully silent. They desperately fear being discriminated against, because they know how they have screwed others, primarily black , brown, other. A curse on their house and generation! May they die out and no memory be made of this group of miserable people whose only intent is harming others.

Re: “Onward Christian Soldiers: Inside a Religious Right Conference Aimed at Taking America Back

I have been following evangelicals for decades, just to understand their game and impetus. First, realize, their "gawd" supposedly told them they can lie to everyone else and do unspeakable things to the remainder of us for their own gratification - that of the sin of pride and hatred of others. Face it, they think we do not matter, at all, ever, and they intend a theology in the political space, one which they control, with the rest of us excluded and persecuted. Calvin drove up the price of fire wood in Geneva as did the Puritans. They contend we somehow step on their "rights" to "religious freedom" by doing such things as breathing, sleeping, eating, etc. and we should stop. These egocentric narcissists will be stopped or controlled by being stomped into the ground - which they then use for regeneration. I watched them since I grew up fundamentalist 70 years ago and have known them all too well since, not trusting anything they say, lying as they do. They have never grown up and achieved ordinary human relations because of the teachings of their vile creeds, for they far extend the bible to whatever they want. Ignore them at your peril!! They are dangerous to human life.

Re: “Eleven Dems Voted for House Bill 2. We Called to Ask Why.

Well it would appear that some of our more conservative (dense) representatives were duped again by a bill which puts the counties and cities in a strait jacket in an exercise where the bill was written in the dark, rushed through the assembly (both houses) and sent to Dep Asst McCroney for signature. That alone should have alerted these people that something stank. Seems Democrats fall for these distractions regularly as the Teabilly Republicans skunk them. And to make it worse, the law allows a form of "personal nullification" of any law they want by claiming their religions makes them do it and then violating the law. Worse they do not have to quantify or qualify which gawd or the other makes them dislike the law. Under this idiot law, people can be fired regardless of cause, for a whim, but then "budiness peoples" like that.

Re: “Breaking: Federal Court Rules Two N.C. Congressional Districts "Unconstitutional Gerrymanders"

I would caution everyone who seems to be celebrating (yes I like it also) that at this point, NO ONE has a handle on the impacts on all the districts which touch 1 and 2, and which will be impacted by any change in either, if things get that far. Focus on the incompetence of the State Supreme Court, packed by the Republicans to backstop their mandates to put us in the 16th century. You do know it is justice for sale, just as Democrats used to do - only slightly less. With all the celebration, lets have thoughtful consideration.

Re: “Under Margaret Spellings, will UNC’s liberal arts programs become a thing of the past?

"ProudlyUnwound or Unhinged" would have benefited from a real education, because his vitriol smacks of pure Jessecrat corn pone. Spellings was a political stunt, designed to affront (stick it to) to the "libruls" and Democrats who have carefully sustained the University as a teaching institution instead of a job shop. Spellings was put in play as an insult to all rational people, which excludes the NCGA, governor and BOG just "because they could". I suspect that Art Pope was involved in bringing this protege of Karl Rove to the job. Besides, nothing happens unless he approves it. So, in the best tradition of Wos and Berry, we have another rightwing woman who will screw things up royally, get some medal and be dismissed.

Re: “A real American hero, charged with espionage

Why to right wing zealots always blather about "leftists" and such. ProudlyUnafilliated is rather stupid. Many of us have severely criticized Obama and his crowd for persecution of Kiriakou and others. Snowden knew he would have been buried in prison and had a kangaroo court - so he left - smart. I think Snowden should get a medal. And, I worked in the business for many years. The institution, in this case the intel community, takes over and manipulates the administration, either party, for what it wants, and it wanted Kiriakou and others, including Manning. So ProudlyUnaffiliated, you simply have no information of value and your opinion is suspect from lack of information and political prejudice, which I am sure fully does not like a black man in the White House. Cannot shake those roots.
