Worth getting out in the newly cold weather to attend.

Bob Geary Thanks for staying on this story as it develops. I don't live in Raleigh now, but I find this lack of attention to the ordinance mystifying. The Council passed an ordinance years ago, and yet they are just now finding out? Big "Oops."
Bob, you asked about Wos' presentation to Wake Republican Women. I am curious, did you also ask about the "body guard" who kept the N&O's reporter from asking her questions? I understand Tillis also has bodyguards. Why, and who pays them? Tax dollars at work?
Mariyn Avila of Raleigh is a co-sponsor of the House version of the bill. It would be nice if the Independent were at least somewhat impartial on this issue. At least give an opportunity to those with whom you differ to offer an opinion.
I think at this point the most important element in the proposal is who is responsible for any environmental hazards on the site. Will that be the lessor, the State of NC, or the lessee, the City of Raleigh? I am encouraged that a lease is proposed rather than a sale. Hopefully, the lease is specific in saying it can only be leased to Raleigh if a park is the use of the land--not development.
According to Mike Pedneau, former Director of Dix Hospital, there is not just one, but three, former City of Raleigh waste dumps on the Dix property. He has shared this info with State Auditor, Beth Wood.
This is such an important issue for all citizens. Please keep writing about it.
Frankly Bob, I cannot believe you actually wrote this article. Of course, I think you did endorse Cal in the Primary, right?
For an alternate point of view (mine and many others) go here:
Perhaps you just cut out too soon. Elaine appeared nervous at the beginning with some out of control hand gestures. That stopped as the debate continued. She also seemed focused on her notes at the beginning.
But for a zinger, you could not beat the way she went after Burr on his attack on Obama and this administration on "amnesty" for illegal aliens...The hot button issue for the GOP this year.
She also rebutted Burr well on off-shore drilling in NC and the environment, and she nailed him on "No Child Left Behind." I don't see these issues covered on INDY Week or the mainstream media. What's up?
This is one fabulous guy with many-faceted talents! i would follow him into battle, as he would be one hell of a leader.
It's not just that we agree on issues. It's much more.
He is willing to speak up on corruption in government regardless of the politics involved. Guess maybe he's like me and remembers the days of Richard Nixon and Watergate, as a former associate of Sen. Ervin.
