What a lovely commentary on such a sad day!

Re: “The Know Bookstore's future: unknown

Bruce has been in business way more than 18 years. He was at the location on Dillard for many years after I came to the community until the county needed that space for its general services building. Then he moved to the space on Fayetteville. I've been in Durham for 31 years, and discovered Bruce shortly after my arrival.

Re: “Community-owned store in the works for Durham

It's great for there to be a community-owned store in Durham. We've had one for decades - it's called the Durham Food Co-op and here's its website: http://www.durhamfoodcoop.org/. While I am not currently a member, I have been in the past and I appreciate the way they have hung in there with the Durham community, and they should get their props too, I think.

Last week's news that the Nice Price in Carrboro would be closing hurt more than a little. Losing a trusted bookstore is like having a friend move away.
